Before we can carry out your Air Conditioning Recharge Service, we are legally required to perform an Air Conditioning Pre-Inspection. This includes:

• Temperature checks.

• A refrigerant check.

• A thorough inspection of the system’s key components, including the compressor, condenser, drive belts, and hoses.

• A nitrogen leak test.

If the system is in good condition, you can opt for a full Air Con Service, which includes recharging the refrigerant and replacing the lubricant, as recommended by your vehicle’s manufacturer. The additional cost is £40 for R134a refrigerant and £80 for the newer R1234yf gas.

Vehicles manufactured before 2014 typically use R134A refrigerant. Since January 2017, all new vehicles are required to use the more environmentally friendly R1234YF gas. Vehicles produced between 2014 and 2016 may use either refrigerant. Yes, manufacturers recommend recharging your air conditioning system every 2 years. This is because air conditioning is not part of your MOT test and typically isn’t included in routine servicing.
